Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnant Season Finale - The Wedding

It's a week before the wedding and Scott has decided that, as it turns out, he's a pretty good father, but he's till not sure if he'll be a very good husband. As Scott puts Bailey to sleep he asks her opinion about whether he's ready to get married. She stares sleepily at him as he reminds her that he'll be marrying the little blond lady that's always hanging around. The conversation seems to exhaust Bailey as much as it does Scott, because before long she's fast asleep. Scott clarifies that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Renee, there's no doubt there. It's just the whole idea of committing legally to someone for the rest of your life that scares the hell out of him.

On top of the doubts about the wedding, Scott has also been stuck with the task of putting the wedding together on his own in under a week. He reminds us that he hasn't been in charge of anything since The Powell Family! To take his mind off things he catches a game of golf with the guys. Johnny comments that his swing has gotten better since he became a dad. Maybe he should have more kids. Jason asks Scott if he's ready, which of course he's not. All Scott has lined up so far is the location and the preacher. Anyone who's ever planned a wedding before, knows that's not much. The guys step up and promise to help Scott get it done. The problem is that he has to agree to find Johnny a blind date. Blind being the operative word of course.

The first thing the guys do is go to Pier One Imports to help Scott create a centerpiece. Did I miss a memo? Is that really where people go for their centerpieces? Anyhow, Cooch & Johnny actually come up with a fairly nice centerpiece, and with a few minor modifications, should work fine according to Scott. This means Scott has to work even harder to get Johnny a date. Something that will be harder than planning a wedding in five days.

Jason (the question man apparently) asks Scott if he and Renee are having sex yet since the baby. Scott reminds Jason that Renee's recovering from a C-section. When Jason suggests maybe the hotel room on their wedding night, Scott disgustedly reminds him how gross hotel room sheets are. They are going home after the wedding he says. Touche, Scott. I think we've all watched a little too much reality TV for our own good. I'm not too hip on hotel sheets anymore either after one too many Discovery channel shows.

It's show and tell at the Daddies-To-Be class this week. Scott brings Bailey and gives advice to the one guy in the class whose baby hasn't been born yet. He explains his theory that the nine month duration for pregnancy is really for the guy. He also says that after all this time he finally gets it. Who would have thought at the beginning of the class that Scott would be the one helping someone else "Get on The Ride." Holding Bailey is what made him understand what a father is. Now if only he could get this husband thing down...

Three days until the wedding and Scott decides that he and Renee should visit a Catholic priest for a little pre-marital counseling. Even though they aren't having a Catholic ceremony, being raised Catholic leaves Scott feeling like he could use the visit. The priest advises Scott & Renee that loving and embracing their differences is what will keep them together. He then asks a series of questions to see if they are on the same page in their relationship, which they are, until they get on the topic of his friends. Or Johnny to be more specific. The discussion ends with them agreeing that Scott needs to work on his pridefulness.

As they leave, Scott drops the bomb about finding Johnny a date. Scott convinces Renee, just barely. Renee tells Scott that they'll probably have to pay one of her friends. Seriously. Scott asks how much? I don't know - if Renee asked me, I don't think I could come up with an amount large enough.

Finally it's the day of the rehearsal dinner. Scott is still running errands when Renee calls asking where he is. Through the course of the dinner Scott realizes he hasn't hired a caterer. Needless to say, he's late to the rehearsal dinner. Once he does arrive, we meet some friends and family of Scott & Renee's. She has only one single friend that can be set up with Johnny. Amazingly she says yes. I assume the check was pretty big, because the amount was worked out off camera. Maybe VH1 picked up the tab on that one.

After the rehearsal dinner Scott and the guys meet back up at the wedding location to finish getting it ready. It's then revealed that Scott has rehired the Super Fab Wedding Planner, and all is right with the world. Especially if you consider the fact that Super Fab Wedding Planner trashes Johnny & Cooch's centerpieces for something else. Hiring Super Fab Wedding Planner back was a smart move Scott.

The wedding day is here, and everything is picture perfect. Literally, it's not like we didn't see the millions of pictures that were plastered all over the place the day after the ceremony. It's all gorgeous, and of course Scott melts when he sees Renee. Though he tries to tease us a little bit but about whether he'll say I Do, he then reminds us that he's not brain dead, of course he's going to say I Do. Which he does. The reception is sweet and Renee's daughter gives a touching toast to her mom and new step-dad. Of course then she drops the twist.

As Scott is reveling in how everything has worked out, Kalyn tells Scott that her ticket to LA, well, it was one way. She's moving in. Scott wonders how in a moment his life suddenly turned into Steel Magnolias, surrounded by a bunch of twangy southern women. His agent will be happy; the ever growing family will ensure he'll have to keep working for the next 70 years.

The realization of having a teenager moving into the house suddenly starts to hit Scott, as he sadly wonders at what point Johnny will starting hitting on her friends. Scott went from being 45 and single, 46 and pregnant, and now looks like he's facing 47 and married... with children. Does this mean a season 3 is in the works? We'll have to wait to find out. Those sneaky Baios, always leaving us wondering....

 Season 3
I felt a season 3 vibe all over that final scene. He seems to want the money and I doubt he has too many other options. I thought he should have attempted to be more welcoming to Renee's older daughter coming to LA. I know he's in character for the show, but there's a real issue about the girl not having been raised by her mom, and his rejection bothered me. He may not be a real person, but the kid sure is.

I wouldn't be so bothered by a third season if I thought he was self-aware enough to know a lot of people watch in order to hate him. He isn't nearly as charming as he thinks he is.

Thanks for the great recaps. You watch so I don't have to

 Re: Season 3
The daughter actually moved in a few weeks before the baby was born, OFF camera, so the whole "bomb drop" at the wedding was all VH1's doing.
I don't believe marriage and fatherhood bothered him anywhere near as much in real life as it did on the show, anymore than I believe those chicks on Flavor of Love really want to fall in love with Flavor Flav!
