Charm School, Finale--50 Grand Will Buy a Lot of Weaves

Christina is sunning herself in the beautiful islands of Hawaii, so I will be your guide this week for all of the craziness in Charm School. Christina will be back soon and will re-recap the show with her brilliantly written thoughts on the deep thoughts these girls spout.

It’s the grand finale of Charm School and someone is going to win $50,000. Brooke was expelled for being a slutacious whore last time, so it’s down to Shay, Saaphyri, Becky, and Leilene.

We start this episode with Leilene and Becky talking in the bedroom about being down to the last lesson. Becky makes her way to the kitchen and talks with Saaphyri about how much they don’t like Shay and they don’t think she deserves to win. As Shay gets ready, she tells the camera she’s here to win it. Mo’s voice comes over the PA and tells them the final Commandment is “Thou Shalt Be Fully Fabulous”. She then gives them the rules for the final challenge. They will be quizzing each other on the lessons they have learned in the house. Each girl gets to read some questions and choose who they want to answer the question. The first one to answer three questions incorrectly will be booted.

Becky and Saaphyri are studying their Commandments together and were having trouble remembering, so they decide they should rap them. Saaphyri starts with some strange beat boxing and they rap the Commandments. They finally decide they need to study something else and come up with a plan. Since they feel Shay is the bigger threat, they are both only going to ask her questions and completely leave Leilene alone.

Leilene’s study habits are much like mine were in college. She takes a shot of gin for every question she gets correct. Becky and Saaphyri use this to their advantage and get Leilene to agree to only ask Shay questions, too. Shay is studying by herself and blames Saaphyri for the others not talking to her.

All of the girls go to the Grand Hall and get to an area that have podiums set up. Each podium has three Charm School logos sticking up from it. If they get a question wrong, they have to push down one of the logos. Mo tells Leilene she gets to draw the first question from the box, and she’s happy to, since it will prove to Saaphyri and Becky that she’s with them.

She asks which part of the wine glass you should hold when you make a toast and asks Shay to answer. She says the stem and that is correct. I am definitely digging the crazy “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” music. Shay asks Leilene a question about retail price and she’s wrong. Saaphyri asks Shay a question about Mikki’s fashion tips and she’s wrong. Becky asks Shay a question and they all ask her a long series of questions and she gets them all right. Mo is impressed with the other girls’ smarts on ganging up on her. She keeps getting things right, however, she gets stumped on a question about frog legs and forks and is expelled. Mo wishes her well.

The remaining girls have one hour to write a speech about their dream and how the $50,000 will help them achieve it. Shay is packing up her things and Mo stops her. Shay is crying and Mo asks her to stop and that she needs her help.

Leilene is having trouble writing her speech and Becky tells her she hasn’t started yet. Mo calls them to the Grand Hall. She tells them she brought in someone special to help her judge. Saaphyri thinks it will be Bill Clinton because he likes school girls. I think this is where Christina would say “Hil. Air. Ee. Us.” Mo tells them they have to be mindful of who they step on while climbing to the top. In walks Shay and they all look scared. Shay promises there will be payback.

Leilene begins her speech and she wants to use the money for her kids’ educations. She’s very eloquent about trying to change and get stronger. There are clips from pervious shows and epic swelling music under her. It was very good. Shay doesn’t say anything and looks pensive.

Becky comes down to the carpet and is also quite eloquent in what she’s learned. She admits to not being mentally prepared for Charm School and she only made it because of Saaphyri. She promises to give Saaphyri half of her prize money for teaching her how to give. This makes Saaphyri very happy.

When Saaphyri starts her speech, she admits she didn’t write one because she wasn’t sure what to say. She just starts talking about being homeless and that she will get a house with the prize money. She gets Shay to cry as she calls her out for not knowing what it’s like to lose her stuff like Saaphyri has. Becky says her speech was emotional and coming from the heart. Mo is overcome with emotion and tells Shay it is time to decide. Leilene is nervous because she’s so close and Becky says at this point, she has no control at this point.

Mo tells the girls they did an absolutely beautiful job on their speeches. Shay runs down a list of what was good about their speeches. She says Leilene is great because she has realized she has to get herself together for her kids. She also thinks Becky is great for giving half of her money to Saaphyri. However, she tells Saaphyri she touched her the most and apologizes and they hug. Shay immediately gives Saaphyri a pass onto the next round. She can’t figure out who she should let through and asks Mo to help. Mo tells her it’s hard, but to decide. Shay cries and can’t do it, so Mo decides for her. She tells Becky it was a pleasure to meet her, but takes her pledge pin. Becky gladly gives up the pin because she knows the other girls need the money more. She hugs everyone and leaves. Mo thanks Shay and tells her she did a great job as a judge.

Tomorrow, Mikki and Keith will take Leilene and Saaphyri to get makeovers and then a winner will be crowned. The next morning, each girl gets into the back of their own limo and go off for their makeover. Saaphyri meets up with Keith to get some new clothes and she thinks he had more breakfast because he was nice. She starts picking things out and trying them on. Keith tells her she’s limited because of her boobs and she needs to tape them down. They finally pick out one dress they both like and she takes it. Leilene then comes to get Keith’s help and immediately picks out a stripper dress. He tells her no way and that’s who she used to be. She finds a dress she loves and Keith really likes it, too.

Mikki then meets Saaphyri at the hair salon and they tell her they are going to get her a new weave. She’s a bit reluctant, but she’s going to let them do whatever they need. Leilene also comes in to get a new hair cut. She also lets them do whatever they want. They get makeup done and then hug Mikki before they leave. I couldn’t really tell much of a difference from the side shot of Leilene, but Saaphyri’s hair is a HUGE change. It’s more of a caramel color than anything. It’s very elegant and pretty.

The girls get ready for their graduation ceremony and Saaphyri thinks back about everything she’s learned at Charm School, including the fact she doesn’t have to punch people in the face. Very nice. Leilene also waxes poetic about her growth and how much the $50,000 would mean to her.

Mo thinks they both are incredibly beautiful as they come down the stairs. Saaphyri looks really old with that hair. Her confessionals to the camera are with her “old” hair, so I’m wondering if it is even really about this part of the show. Mo tells Leilene how proud she is of her discovering how strong and beautiful she is. She also tells Saaphyri that the challenge to give things away was her shining moment and she’s become a great woman.

Mo wants to give both of them $50,000, but can only give it to one girl. She calls Leilene down and tells her she’s grown so much, but she’s not the winner of Charm School. However, Keith wants to be Leilene’s agent and she will move to Hollywood to start her career. She’s very excited about that.

Saaphyri is so happy she has won. Mo recalls a moment where Saaphyri told her at the beginning of the show she was going to make Mo’Nique proud. She declares Saaphyri the winner and Saaphyri cries and Mo hands her the check. They hug and Leilene looks on smiling. She also hands her the boots Saaphyri gave away in the pervious challenge. They all have a group hug to more swelling music. Saaphyri cries hysterically and falls to the ground. Saaphyri says she was a diamond in the rough, but now she’s a polished up diamond. She says she feels like a princess.

Just when you think it’s all over, it’s not! There is a reunion show on next Sunday! Woooo!
