Pussycat Dolls: Search for the Next Doll – Finale, Asia Wins
The finale is here, y’all and Chelsea, Asia and Melissa R. are all ready to become the next Pussycat Doll. At the start of the episode, we hear Melissa R. and Chelsea commiserate about how glad they are that Melissa S. is gone. Asia takes issue with this. She feels that Melissa R. is being a fake b*tch.
Robin enters, looking very nice, and tells the ladies that they will have a song and dance routine as a group as well as a solo song performance in the finale. The three must perform “Lady Marmalade,” from Moulin Rouge together. Individually, Chelsea will tackle “Feelin’ Good”, Asia will sing “I Don’t Need a Man” and Melissa R. has “Stickwitu.” Robin also cautions them to learn the words to their songs and the choreography by tomorrow morning.
Later on, she and Mikey Menden have dinner with the gals at the loft. Robin says that this will be their last night in the loft, and then asks if they want to get anything off their chests. Asia tells Melissa R. that she thinks she’s fake.
Apparently, this upset Melissa R. more than a little bit. The two argue late into the night. Things get quite heated, and Chelsea gets woken up during the altercation. At one point, there are a lot of curse words being thrown around. Melissa R. tells Asia she should go back home and be with her baby.
Whoa!
In the AM, the gals are still upset and look haggard from the fracas the night before. They don’t do well when Robin comes to listen to their progress. Robin is so upset with Chelsea that she rips up Chelsea’s lyrics. She rips into Asia and Melissa R. as well. She says that her job would be really easy if she had to choose the next Pussycat Doll right now. It would be NONE of them.
This gives the gals the kick in the pants they need, and they begin to really work it out. When performance time comes, they kill the group version of “Lady Marmalade.” Robin thinks that she could promote them as a girl group by themselves. Not a bad idea, Robin.
Each of the ladies does their solo. They’re really good. However, I think Asia was a cut above. In the end, so too did Ron Fair, Robin Antin and ‘Lil Kim. Asia won the competition and the gig with the Pussycat Dolls. Host Mark McGrath brought them out to sing with their newest member. Nicole and crew tore it up with Asia.
Of course, the show has been such a success that Robin and the Pussycat Dolls are searching again. Yes! A second season of this show is currently being cast.
