Interview With Christian of America's Next Top Model 7

The first eliminee dishes about the show.

Age: 19
Hometown: Columbia, South Carolina
Occupation: Bank Teller

The launch of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 7 was a huge success. This season promises a variety of style, personality and beauty. Clearly it was difficult for the judges to determine which model to eliminate. Although South Carolina native Christian was eager to “represent”, the judges unfortunately felt she was lacking. They felt she just didn’t “pop” or come across as a model. After reviewing Christian’s portfolio, short yet gorgeous, I was eager to find out how it felt to be the first eliminee of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 7.

Hi Christian! Thanks for giving Reality Shack a chance to talk to you. Even though you became the first eliminee of America’s Next Top Model, you deserve congratulations for making it to the final 13. How did it feel to be the eliminated?

Hi! Thanks for interviewing me. It didn’t feel good having to leave so early in the competition. I was hoping to make it a lot farther. I wasn’t expecting it at all. But, I’m glad that I made it through all the cuts. I’ve heard the numbers increase with each cycle, so I feel really good that I was selected out of thousands of auditions.

Before America’s Next Top Model, what was your life like?

Before Top Model I was living at home in Columbia, South Carolina with my mom and dad, finishing high school and doing some modeling.

Why did you decide to audition for Top Model?

Everyone kept telling me I should try out. I thought about it and one day went on the website, got information about the auditions and gave it a try. I had auditioned once before but didn’t make it. I was determined to keep trying. When the next audition came along I went to the audition and made it.

What challenges were you prepared to face in the competition?

Well, first of all I wasn’t sure how it would be with all the girls. There were so many girls with different personalities. I kind of expected the challenges and knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but I was prepared to dig in my heels and go for it anyway.

How nerve-wracking was it to stand before the judges?

I was really nervous. You can’t see it but my knees were shaking. Since I had watched the show I kind of knew what to expect. I didn’t want to come across as loud or defensive so I stood there and basically listened to what they had to say. I usually take criticism well so I would’ve been okay if they had a lot of criticism for me.

You had such a short stint in the competition; did the judges really have a chance to get to know you to make a fair decision to eliminate you?

I actually wish they would’ve waited a bit before the first round of elimination. I mean, it’s hard to tell after one photo shoot. Plus it would give the girls a chance to really feel comfortable with everything and maybe even gain more skills in the process.

So you think it might be better to wait until after the individual makeovers before deciding the eliminations?

I think it might make a difference. I had really prepared myself for the competition. I didn’t have enough time to really show my potential.

As you exited, you said you were mad at yourself. Why is that?

I feel I could’ve said more. They didn’t really have a chance to get to know me. I didn’t want to come off like a Jade or being too strong, but I did want them to realize how much I really wanted this.

We’ve already seen a little drama inside the Top Model house; who do you predict will be the most irritating this season?

I would have to say Monique. She already got her punches in. I think she’s going to be the one that causes the most problems this cycle.

Although it’s pretty early in the competition, who are you hoping to see in the final two?

I’d have to say Anchal and Brooke. Anchal is beautiful. Her features are so defined. She just needs to gain more confidence. I think Brooke also has a good chance at making it to the end.

What do you have planned for the future?

I was modeling before America’s Next Top Model, so I will definitely keep modeling. I’m going to keep pursuing it as much as possible.

How can your fans (and agents) get in touch with you?

The best way for anyone to contact me would be through the CW website, which is
http://www.cwtv.com. I would love to hear from the fans and of course any agents.

Christian, again, congratulations for making it to the final 13. Best of luck for your future!

Okay, thank you. I was glad to do it. Bye!
