Dancing With the Stars 9:8 Results – End of the Fairytale

Dr. Dance and I were in complete agreement this week regarding the four remaining celebrities on Dancing With the Stars. They were all so good that it made it hard to imagine losing anyone. It was tense leading all the way to the last final moments.

Dr. Dance stated it was the "first season I really don't want any of the top four to go home." They were her top four picks from the first night of the competition. You all remember back then. Ashley Hamilton was showing he didn't have his father's rhythm. And Macy Gray just left us all scratching our heads.

We were again in agreement that as Mr. Showmandship, Donny Osmond was unlikely to go home no matter how far down he was on the leaderboard and no matter how many times he stumbled.

Looking at the other three, Kelly Osbourne is "the underdog who has come so far." On top of that, she is Ozzy Osbourne's daughter and known for changing her life around. She wasn't going anywhere.

That left it to the other two, two celebrities that don't have a really wide fan base in a not very well-known singer and a model. Dr. Dance feels Mya, the judges' favorite, is "technically sound and delivers wonderful performances," while Joanna Krupa is "still rough around the edges, but exciting to watch." The voters traditionally don't vote for models on the show, so I was waiting for Joanna's elimination, but would have been prepared to possibly lose Kelly instead.

Interestingly, Dr. Dance broke it down this way, that we had two technicians and two performers. In other words, we were both sure that the performers would get through and we would lose one of the better technicians. This makes sense to me, as I personally, as a layman, would rather watch the performer than the great technician. It's not what the judges want to see, but what the audience, the ones that keep the show on the air, want to see.

When it came down to Kelly or Joanna, it was clear that we'd be saying goodbye to Joanna and Derek Hough, her professional partner. I think she has a lot to be proud of, especially looking at her humble beginnings.

This Cinderella wasn't originally invited to the ball, but she wasn't content to wait around for Prince Charming. She went to LA to find him and then got invited. I have to say I can respect her way of finding him more than I can respect the path past contestant Melissa Rycroft took. Both were dancers as children, but Joanna made a name for herself, then got the invite. Melissa got invited after her prince dropped her, making it more of a consolation prize.
