Is This the End? - Sports Kids Moms and Dads, Finale
by Kristy Lussier

I had no idea it was the Season Finale of the show, until the little Title box appeared in the corner previewing what was coming up next. Then, I popped over to the Bravo website, and still no mention that this was the Season Finale. Did I miss something?? The only clue I got was that the episode sort of wrapped things up for every athlete we were following … so I figured this must be it for now.

TJ and Lindsay face playoffs now. They win a successful second game, but see trouble ahead in Game Three, where Lindsay has a toe injury, and it hurts throughout the game. It was neck and neck, but the girls win again, and get ready for the fourth, and last official playoff game before State. This game proves to be the hardest, and the girls struggle. In the end they are devastated at losing by a mere two points, and end their season without a State Championship. TJ throws a get together for the team to celebrate their impressive year, and hands out some special awards. But she and Lindsay look ahead at her upcoming Club Ball season. She plays outside of school, and it deems more challenging and competitive than her High School team is. TJ feels this is truly what brings out the best of talents in Lindsay’s playing.

Sarah is ready for Nationals. She has about four categories that she will compete in. On her first day, she does great, performing in her Jazz, Street Dance, and Dance Technique categories. Her arch rival, Nicollette also shines, and the competition between the two is fierce. Much to Sharon’s surprise, Nicollette is also performing in the Street Dance category, which is very last minute, and Sharon is suspicious. It’s okay though … Sarah takes First in Street Dance and Dance Technique. She also ties for First with Nicollette in Jazz. She is very pleased, but looks forward to the following day, where she will be doing her Crowd Pleaser Cheer routine. This is the one that is most important. The next day comes, and Sarah does awesome. She says it’s the best she’s ever performed. The tension is so high when the awards are announced, even I was nervous! But it was worth it, because Sarah does win first again, and ends her amazing year with great victory. Sharon learns that no matter what, she just loves her daughter, and is there to support her in anything she does.

Trenton’s birthday is full of surprises. His mother finds out she’s expecting another little bundle!! (Congrats to you!) His celebration is held at the Pasadena Ice Rink. Friends adorn him with many football gifts, including NFL Players jerseys. This marks the beginning of a new path for Craig and Trenton. They have paired themselves up with a new little quarterback, named Brandon, whose Dad is a Sports Agent. Craig feels this is a match made in heaven, and hopes the boys will go all the way through High School and even college together.

Karli placed 5th overall in her competition, out of 22 riders. So it would seem she would have much to celebrate, but she faces her dreaded last day with her horse Disco. She spends some quality time with him, and tries to be strong with her goodbye. Even Karen sheds some tears at the loss of the horse. It was difficult, but Karli lets go, thanking Disco for everything he taught her. She feels she would not be the rider she is without him. When the family arrives back home, Karen announces that now all the craziness is gone (meaning the horse business) she can finally take some time for herself. When my husband and I saw this preview in the commercial, I thought … maybe she means a bubble bath, or a weekend alone?? But NO. Karen announces that she feels it’s time for her to take a break from being a mother and leave for two months to study yoga. WHAT??? I mean, seriously, what is wrong with this woman?? You can’t just take a break from being a mother and raising your children. If you didn’t have the money to afford for Karli to keep her horse … how do have the money to leave four kids at home with a Nanny, for two months, and study yoga??? This segment infuriated me, and I am sorry, but this is unacceptable. I feel for you and your family Karli … I do not, however, have sympathy for you Karen. You had children, you are a mother, you don’t just leave when you want because it gets hard. Sorry, pooey on you.

After Bryce’s hard fall from his practice jump, he is slow to get up and thinks he has broken his arm, but he was fine. He goes for the gold in his test, even attempting the Double axle, which he falls on. The double was not necessary or required to pass the test, so the judges pull him aside and ask him why he did it. He says to challenge himself, and he does another one, but this time he lands it. He did great on his test anyway, and passed, officially moving up to the Novice Men’s division. In the end, Kim and Bryce mend their tensions and have some fun skating together. Kim says she loves her so no matter what, and wants the best for him.
