All About the Crush - Real World Key West, Episode 4

by Clicker This week it's all about the crush. Zach has a crush. And Svetlana is getting crushed – by her boyfriend. The guys in the house keep teasing her about it. And telling her she needs to live a little while she's in Key West. Meet some new men. Or at least hook up with one of them. John is pushing pretty hard and Svetlana is blunt in her confessional about why: " He wants to f---- me," she tells the camera. "It's obvious… as vulgar as that is. It's true. I don't care what he says." She and Paula have a private conversation later outside in which Svetlana – or Fitz, as John likes to call her – tells Paula that she's used to guys talking crap about her boyfriend so they can sleep with her. Then she goes on to reveal that her boyfriend never respects her and constantly lets other people disrespect her too. In one incident, he even allowed another man to slap her across the face. Then she bursts into tears as she confesses that what she really wants from a man is protection but she only gets that from her father. Boyfriends, Svetlana says, are only there to "keep me happy, screw me, take me out, and celebrate anniversaries." Zach makes the wise decision to go outside the house to find love. He seems quite smitten by a waitress named Crystal. So smitten that he invites Crystal and some of her friends over to the MTV house. Svetlana doesn't like it that girls are coming over. But she is cordial when Crystal and her friends show up. Later Svetlana and her boyfriend Martin get in a phone fight. She expects things to be different when she gets home. And says she doesn't want to be around his friends when she gets home. Things get heated and he starts yelling at her and telling her that he won't give up his friends for her. Every other word he says is being bleeped out. Out at the bar that night Sveltana cuts loose, dancing on top of the bar and getting drunk. She and John are flirting around in the van on the way home. When they get home Svetlana asks John to take a dip in the hot tub with her. But John won't do it. He realizes it would be a bad idea. He tries to explain to her that if she and he got too close she would get too attached. He's looking for something less than a relationship. Then all of a sudden Svetlana and the conversation start getting really melodramatic. She tells John how she fell in love with her boyfriend Martin only 2 weeks after she met him and that she has worked all this time to make him into the man that she wants him to be. Then out of no where she asks him: "Say you were still with your girlfriend -- this is a completely hypothetical situation -- say she dated a guy before you and he raped her. What would you say to that?" Huh? Despite the tragedy, what is John supposed to say to this thinly veiled question? "What am I supposed to do kill the guy?" John says to her. Svetlana just kind of sarcastically laughs and says that's why she always wants to be with a guy she feels could protect her. "The fact that Martin didn't do anything to this guy doesn't mean he didn't care," John tells her. "But at the same time, would him hurting this kid made any difference?" Svetlana just sits and kind of whimpers. They embrace and decide to go to bed – separately. Good thing. Because the next day she's on the phone with Martin making up.
