Starting Over 3, 02-14-06 – Busted In More Ways Than Oneby LauraBelle
Christie should have known there was trouble when both Rhonda and Dr. Stan came to meet with her first thing in the morning. They want to check and see how well she has been doing with her emotional food log, and also want to know if she got rid of the food in the house that she shouldn't be eating. Oops. She didn't get around to throwing the food out, but says she really doesn't need to. And as for as the log, she wanted to forget about it. Knowing that Jill suffers from the same type of food issues, she is brought in as support. From now on, until further notice, Christie has to report in to Jill with everything she eats. Everything. Good thing Jill's on the job, as she shows Christie that her breakfast of eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast hardly fits into her allotment of eating 1-1/2 cups at a time. It appears to be almost double.
In Group Dr. Stan wants to know how everyone is getting along. With Jill the only original housemate, and with there now being five new housemates, he wonders how that is all going. Jill admits she's starting to feel like the elder in the house. Jodi gets emotionally upset, and says that it's hard to think of Jill leaving soon, as she depends on Jill so much. She doesn't feel supported by the other women, and Lisa does admit she goes to Jodi with her problems, but doesn't do much in return.
Christie says it kind of pisses her off some, as she feels like Jill doesn't listen to anyone else's opinions, and sets up the rules herself. Kim just sits in the background silently acknowledging this. Christie is normally the leader back home, and doesn't understand why she isn't here. Dr. Stan gets her to see it's because she doesnothing to assert herself here in the Starting Over house.
Dr. Stan leaves and a special guest enters – Andy Paige. She is here to get the women to change one thing about themselves today. Today they are changing something external - their bras. Andy takes them all to a store, The Wizard of Bras, where they carry in the store every bra size from 28AA to 58J. Jeepers. Everyone gets fitted and picks out a new bra in their new size ... and throws the old bra in a bag Andy is holding. Jodi says had she known that, she wouldn't have worn this particular bra, but gets rid of it nonetheless. Jill goes from a 42C to 40H, and Christie from a 34C to 32E.
Back at the house, Rhonda talks to Kim about love. Rhonda asks Kim to detail what her ultimate relationship with her husband would be like. When Kim starts going into detail, it all includes Jeff, but also Jax, their son. Rhonda changes the dream to Jeff waking up, rolling over and kissing Kim passionately. Kim likes that dream, but says it never happens anymore. They don't seem to have that kind of passion anymore, although she still finds him physically attractive. Rhonda sends Kim on an assignment to interview people on the street about love.
Once Kim leaves to conduct her survey, Rhonda pulls Jodi in for a special assignment. But before she can even tell her about the assignment, Jodi says she figured out why Kim always sets her off. She reminds Jodi of her father, never listening, and how it always has to be about her. She hasn't said anything to Kim yet, as she wanted to talk to Rhonda first. Rhonda tells her not to talk to Kim about it, as that's Jodi's stuff she needs to deal with, not Kim's. She also says Kim will continue to be be a trigger for Jodi until she works out what she needs to.
As for the secret assignment, Rhonda asks Jodi to call up Jeff and ask him the same questions that Kim is asking strangers. When she calls him, Jeff says he doesn't feel Kim is always open to love, and he believes it's because she sees herself as unlovable. He believes she is too critical of him with too many expectations.
Kim interviews people on the street and asks things like how they show love, and if she should be insulted when her husband knows she doesn't like a particular kind of flower, but continues to give that same type of flower to her year after year. One guy tells her that her husband should start paying more attention. Probably an easy response to come up with if you don't know the whole story. After finishing the interviews, Kim feels validated that Jeff isn't putting as much into the relationship as he could be.
Back at the house, Kim meets up with Dr. Stan to tell him of her findings. She felt the guys she talked to on the street were more in touch with what their mates wanted. As for Jeff, she feels he doesn't listen to her enough, and that he doesn't really love her. Dr. Stan, though, believes all Kim does with Jeff is ask him to prove their relationship over and over. It's Dr. Stan's believe that maybe Jeff quit trying so hard because he felt it would never be enough for Kim.
Jodi is brought in, and Kim is let it on the special assignment. Jeff told Jodi he shows his love for Kim by doing whatever it takes. Dr. Stan says sometimes guys show their love for their mate by being the bread-winner. Jeff also told Jodi that he thought Kim would feel more loved if she learned to love herself. He feels she shuts down when he doesn't meet up with all her expectations. Kim appreciates knowing this, but is surprised that Jeff divulged all this to Jodi.
Andy comes back to see the housemates at night, and brings all their old bras with her. She wants to have a good old fashioned bra burning. As they sit outside next to the firepit, Andy asks everyone to share a story about what they were doing one time when they were wearing the bra, and then to toss it into the fire. Instead, though, they all talk more about what the bra represented to them, and the changes they are trying so hard to make. Jodi says she feels like she has been opening up more lately, and tosses her bra into the fire. Kim says the bra represents giving up resistance, and says she appreciates what everyone in the house has done for her, as she tosses her bra into the flames. Jill says she has made a lot of changes since getting her bra, and says she used to feel so unworthy. She believes she just lost her way, but has now found it. Andy believes that Jill liked that bra because it was red and bold, but her new bra is lacy and beautiful. Jill interjects, "... and expensive." She throws the red one into the fire.
I have to buy some new bras myself. Although, I don't think I'll be burning my old ones. I think my neighbors would think I'm crazy.
