Team Underdog - Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Episode 4
by atarus

I apologize for the uber-late review. I missed the first showings, but thank goodness for reruns on BRAVO!

The events for this show are innertube water polo, mechanical bull riding, and the multi-legged race.

This time, though, there is a twist involved at the beginning. Each team must eliminate two members from their team, a male and a female. Each team goes through a different process. On Team Chip, Chip volunteers for Kim to go home again. But shock of shocks, Theo stands up and says "Maybe we don't want Kim to go home." After a brief discussion, it's up to a silent vote. The votes are tallied, and Nikki and Brian are the ones to be sent home. Nikki is furious, she starts crying and says it's "Bull****." She states she competing in 8 challenges and did well in all of them. Sue says that while Nikki's good at the competitions, she's just plain annoying to be around. On Team Coral, Rachel volunteers to be the one sent home. For the male, they do a vote where everybody walks behind the blackboard and writes a name, and Coral sees it and then erases it. All the votes are for Adam, except Adam who votes for Evan. So it's Rachel and Adam who are leaving Team Coral. On Team Miz, Bradford says for everybody to just write the names down and get it over with. Valerie says there's an "unspoken alliance" to get one of the girls out. That girl is Mirna, who The Miz says has negative energy and is full of drama. The male voted out is Bradford himself, but he says he has no hard feelings, and probably takes his being voted out the best of all six. Hatch gives his words of wisdom, stating that he hates how people are self-involved, and how sad they are that people want to vote them off...and tells them all to shut up!

We get to the first event, Innertube Water Polo. It's revealed that Team Chip will play Team Miz, and Team Coral will play.....Team Underdog! If this wasn't completely predictable, the six "voted off" people come back as the fourth, new Light Blue team to play against those that kicked them out. Adam says there isn't a team he'd rather be on, and that Nikki is a fireball. Bradford says that Mirna is strong and he didn't think she deserved to go home.

The rules for the game of water polo, whichever team has the most points at the end of 3 minutes wins. Team Coral looks downtrodden, as Coral says "we have three black people on the team, there's no way we're gonna win." Her words, not mine! And it's true, as Team Underdog creams Team Coral, 3-0. Bradford, the new team captain, states afterwards that "there's nothing more dangerous than somebody with nothing to lose." So true. And in a related story, Team Chip beats Team Miz. Here's Tom with the weather!

Erm. Anyway. Joe Schmo Matt Gould is interviewed, and says that he still lives in his parent's basement. When asked who he wanted to meet most, Gould says Coral because of her big...mouth...(as we're given a nice, extended, slow-motion view of Coral in a bikini) and then he sucks up to Trishelle, the interviewer.

The championship match between Team Chip and Team Underdog is close.....kind of. Brian blocks a shot by Dr. Will, but ends up putting the ball in his own goal. (Awwwww.) Then Joe Schmo nails his own shot, putting Team Chip up 2-0. Bradford scores for Underdog, making it 2-1. Then Theo and Adam get in a brief tussle as Adam keep splashing water in Theo's face, so Theo throws the ball right into Adam's face. Adam gets the penalty. Teehee. Dr. Will scores for Green again, and the final score is Team Chip 3-1.

Round 1 scores: Team Chip - 100, Team Underdog - 75, Team Miz - 50, Team Coral - 25

The post round interviews, Chip jokes that he's "been playing water polo all his life...nah" Theo states that Adam gets a little too into the competitions, and Adam says he understood why Theo nailed him since they're "both there to win." Uh-huh. Whatever you say Adam.

Next up is the mechanical bull. Melissa says that she "doesn't like to straddle things in public." Har har har. (This is coming from the girl that did a striptease one of the first nights she was on the Real World....although she was drunk. Hmmm.) The guest judge-type person for the mechanical bull riding is Ted Lange, who is Isaac from The Love Boat.

It's a best of five matchup, first team to 5 points wins. First up is Team Coral vs. Team Chip. Gervase gets the first point for Team Gervase, but Sue and Dr. Will gain two points for Team Chip. But Team Coral bounces back and Coral and Evan get the two remaining points for a Team Coral victory! In Team Miz vs. Team Underdog, Miz takes them out 1-2-3. Nikki, who said she rode bulls all the time in Texas, falls off very quickly, and a lot of people had a hoot and holler over that. Now it's Team Miz on Team Coral for the championship. Gervase loses to Miz, and Coral loses to Valerie. Evan beats Burton though, giving Team Coral some hope. But Heidi hangs on and Tina Fabulous takes a dive, so Team Miz emerged #1 in bull-riding.

Round 2: Team Miz - 150, Team Underdog - 125, Team Chip - 125, Team Coral - 100

In post-round interviews, Heidi says that she just thought about sex while riding the bull. Uhhhh, too much information there. Joe Schmo says that he'll never be a professional bull rider, since he was the quickest to fall off out of everybody, and Theo even accused him of not trying. Nikki says that in Texas, the bulls are metal, and that was a "California bull" which is why she didn't do well. Frankly, I think that's a bunch of bull. :D And The Miz, well...somehow the Miz starts talking about how good in bed he is. I must have missed that segue.

So it's on to the third event. Coral sprained her thumb when falling off the bull, so she goes to the medic tent and isn't allowed to compete in the multilegged race. The way the multilegged race works, is that it starts off as two people tied together, and they do four laps, and each lap they add a person, so on the final lap 5 people are competing. This event is important, because basically who finishes in last goes home.

The race starts, and Team Coral takes an early lead. But they have strap issues and Team Chip and Team Miz both pass them. Team Chip takes the lead, but they have trouble and Team Miz passes them easily. It's a tight race between Underdog and the Coral-less Team Coral for third place, until Team Coral has more strap issues. Team Miz seems to dominate, but Team Chip catches them and then passes them yet again, to win the event and they also get a special prize, a trip to Las Vegas or something. Team Miz comes in second. It's a close heat between Underdog and Coral, as Team Coral manages to catch up, but Underdog hauls butt at the last moment and gets third, making Team Coral last and sending them home.

Will Wikle says that if the finest and fliest team won, they'd be #1. Evan says that he's happy with his team's effort. Brian from Team Underdog says that they started the day being cut, but ended up being winners. (More like third placers, but ya know.) Gervase says that Team Underdog has great motivation. Adam says that "he feels like he got off a sinking ship." Evan comments that he'd rather lose without Adam than win with him. Ooh. Burn.

Next week: There are supercharged emotions and a team starts to unravel! Sound familiar? That's every episode! Hurray! Anyway, I'll see you next week...er...in two days....*sigh* I'll make sure to see the next episode on time, I swear!
