Is the Force With Howie? - Big Brother 6, 9-3-05
by Syrone Harvey

Not a shock to anyone, but on the previous episode of BB6, James was “backdoored”. With James gone, the pressure fell on both groups to win HOH. Howie was the victor in winning the HOH competition. This of course, left Ivette sniveling again. She is “dumb” struck that she didn’t win HOH. Julie announced there would be a double eviction for the week and on the spot, asked Howie who he wanted to nominate. Howie genuinely appeared to struggle with his decision, and apologized to Ivette as he put her and Beau up. Howie is feeling guilty and figures Beau and Ivette must really hate him.

Howie is jazzed about checking out his HOH room. As he walks in, the first things he notices are his light sabers. (Oh and a picture of his sister.) He is giddy and thankful to Big Brother for giving him such a wonderful surprise. He and the group play with the light sabers although he warns them that non-Jedi’s are not skilled enough at using them.

The Friendship group gathers to discuss strategy. They play the “what if” game and wonder how they might be able to convince Howie to put Janelle up on the block. Aside from the others, Maggie and April get together and talk about how important it is for the two of them to make it to the end. They form their own alliance. Then, Ivette tries to convince Maggie to consider taking her off the block and putting April up in her place. Ivette figures April would be voted out, leaving her and Beau to remain as a pair. Maggie doesn’t seem to buy the whole “you and me … together” idea from Ivette.

Holly from Big Brother 5 surprises everyone by announcing the POV competition. She will be hosting the competition called the Big Brother Casino. (Better known as craps)

The goal is to be the player with the most remaining chips. April starts off the game by rolling, then crapping out. The game progresses until finally there is a four way tie. April, Janelle, Maggie and Ivette all have 19 chips so they compete with a tie breaker. With the tie breaker question everyone gets the answer correct, except for Ivette. The tie is now between Maggie, April and Janelle. Janelle answers incorrectly and is eliminated. Finally the tie is between Maggie and April. Maggie ends up winning the Golden Power of Veto.

Inside the house, Maggie thinks it might be a good idea for her and Howie to talk. Janelle invites herself to join them, but they tell her they can handle it without her. Later, Maggie pulls the Friendship Alliance together and asks for their opinion on what she should do with the POV. Beau and Ivette tell her she needs to do whatever for the sake of strategy. But, April stays behind and sobs in disbelief that Maggie would even consider putting her up and removing Ivette. April is feeling so hurt; she turns to the most unlikely source; Janelle, for consolation. Then April pleads and begs Maggie to save her over Ivette. Maggie says she is confused. She knows it would be the best thing strategically to put April up, but she knows she shouldn’t. She’s clearly torn between her choices.

Finally, it’s time for the veto ceremony. Maggie gives Beau and Ivette a chance to plead their case. Neither of them wants to compete against the other, so they tell Maggie she has to do what she feels is best. In the end, Maggie chooses not to use the POV.

During the live eviction each of the eligible houseguests cast their votes. Janelle enters the DR and votes to evict Beau. Then, April also chooses to evict Beau. As a final vote, Maggie also chooses to evict Beau. Beau graciously gives everyone a hug then heads out to talk to Julie. Julie wonders if he did the right thing by not putting Howie up instead of James. He tells her he did what he felt was best and wanted to go along with the rest of the group. (It would’ve been nice to see him think on his own just once in this competition) But he has no regrets, so he will be joining the others in the jury house.

It’s time for the HOH competition. All the houseguests aside from Howie are playing a game called Magnetic Questions. Each player is given a red disc and a blue disc. They are asked questions from the questionnaire the houseguests filled out early in the game. They are to answer with either a red disc or blue, depending on the answer. The person with the most points will win HOH. They are asked a series of questions such as, “Which player said they had a bad habit of cracking their knuckles?” Blue for Sarah. Red for James. All the players get the answer correct. Janelle gets several answers wrong then April also follows with several wrong answers. This leaves Ivette and Maggie tied for HOH. The tie breaker question is a simple, no-brainer. Maggie blatantly gives the win to Ivette by answering incorrectly. I wonder if the whining and the sobbing finally got to her. Well, Ivette is finally HOH and is beyond happy. (For once) I guess she’ll have a few good days until the next competition. It looks like Janelle and Howie need to watch their backs. Ivetta may be out for blood.

The Big Brother Saga continues…. I think I’ve gone through a full bottle of Motrin just watching these guys in action.) Are you ready for this to be over? Let me know. I’d love to hear from you. Contact me at Syrone@realityshack.com See you soon!
