Tommy Lee, the Athlete? - Tommy Lee Goes to College, Episode 3
by Kay Sesay

The intro clip this week is Tommy in a drop-in invertebrate class. The class is dissecting toads and frogs where for one reason or another they have to remove poop from the poor creature. The teacher says something about sexing the frog? Maybe I didn't hear right! The theme music starts.

I forgot to mention last week, the show is narrated to some guy with a
cheesy British accent. The segment starts with our "British" friend introducing us to the UNL drum line.

The Drum Captain Ben is not happy at all and thinks that Tommy is going to ruin everything. They start to practice and Ben is not impressed by Tommy's efforts. As time goes on Ben decides to help Tommy out by counting which Tommy understands, "drum language". Drumming with the drum line proves to be a challenge for Tommy as he's used to drumming by himself.

Tommy creeps in late (again) to chemistry 101, where all the facts about atoms and polarity and some other stuff are bouncing off his head. "Dude I'm so lost", Tommy whispers to the guy next to him.

Tommy decides it's time to try out for athletics, so he meets with the Ass. Athletics Director, Butch "Huggy Bear" Hug. Huggy makes a face as Tommy expresses his interest in doing some form of athletics, and after making a joke about doing a coed sport Huggy warns Tommy that he'd never be able to keep up with the girls.

Tommy plays volleyball against 3 all-American and 1 Olympian player, who dish out some serious serves. "Take it easy!" cries Tommy. They
kick his butt! Ok I really need to stop laughing.

The next clip is short; Tommy joins the swim team for a swim in his red Speedo type swimming trunks. He's covered in tattoos and oh so lanky. Ha ha! I mean he can swim; it just took him a little longer than the others.

Next Tommy hits the track wearing a pair of shorts that look like the shorts basketball players used to wear circa 1970's. This show has me really cracking up here. Tommy's in line to run what I believe to be the 100-meter, and he's just all over the place when the starter gun is fired. Head tilted over to once side and huffing and puffing. Just hilarious!

Huggy screams for Mr. Lee to hurry up. When Tommy finally completes the run Huggy says something about knowing Tommy was going to mess this thing up.

Tommy goes for a dive, does some kind of underwater aquatics thing for us after which he decides to hang up his swimming trunks.

Tommy's back to the books and is studying in the lab with tutor Natalie. Tommy does well during the study session. Natalie opines that Tommy's biggest problem is that he gets easily distracted.

Tommy is determined to nail the drum lines routine and enlists the help of the other drummers and they practice into the night.

The "British" guy narrates that it's Friday morning and the band is getting together for their morning practice. Tommy puts his all into the practice, and the band completes a perfect run. At the end of practice Tommy still has a few hiccups; they decide to let him join the drum line for Saturday's game.

Its game day on campus and Tommy suits up in the band's gear. He marches on the ball field with the rest of the band and is awesome. Don't you just love those bands, I do. Natalie who's up in the bleachers yells her support, "Tommy you rock."

Students and staff get together in the evening and everyone is celebrating the day. Over all the cheers a lone voice could be heard
asking… "Hey Tommy, don't you have a test tomorrow?"

That's all for tonight.

I think this show's a great laugh, what do you think?
