Killer - Tommy Lee goes to College, Premiere by Kay Sesay
Tonight's premiere is a one-hour show, consisting of two thirty minute episodes.
Tommy Lee, of the mega-popular metal band Motley Crue, is off to college. Tommy says goodbye to home and mom, and as they bid their farewells mom tells him to comb his hair, pull his sagging pants up, and do her proud.
Tommy drives onto campus of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and is met by "hellos" as he cruises on by. As he walks across the quad he's met by cat calls and some other remarks that had to be bleeped out, and loves every second of it. Tommy describes the feeling as "Killer."
Tommy finds his way to the chancellor's office, where the chancellor lets Tommy know he knows a little about his background. Tommy tries to make light of the situation by commenting that he hoped the chancellor didn't know too much, and cracks a killer smile (at least I think so.)
Armed with his schedule and student code of conduct, Tommy starts to make his way to the bookstore; on the way he stops and hugs a fan. I think he made one young lady's year, as she was in tears after the meeting. Tommy finally makes it to the bookstore, and grabs the material he needs for his classes; Chemical Engineering, Criminal Law, and Organic Chemistry.
Tommy's next mission is finding a place to crash, so off he heads over to University Housing to find himself a roommate. This was great! Some possibilities were stunned when they opened the door and saw Tommy standing there. One guy was hilarious; Tommy asks if he needs a roommate, the dude says "what", Tommy asks if he's heard of Motley Crue, the guy stands there dumfounded, no response. I guess that meant "NO!"
Tommy signs some autographs and then finds the perfect roommate, Matt. Tommy wasn't impressed by Matt's 3.5 G.P.A only because he thought it was out of 10, and quickly changed his tune when Matt explained it was out of 4.
Tommy wastes no time and decks out his new accommodations with a Play Station 2, flat screen T.V. and a huge alarm clock. You know the kind with the bell in the middle? Yea!
Tommy does a nice introduction in Chemistry class, although once the class starts things just seem to be flying over his head. In English Tommy has no clue, and after it was over is advised to catch up on the reading assignment. While in biology, Tommy tries hard to stay focused but dozes off a few times!
While meeting with Professor Dr. Gay, who is Tommy's academic advisor and Biology teacher, they conclude that Tommy would benefit by having a tutor, so Dr. Gay makes the call.
Natalie the tutor seems impressed that Tommy has started ahead of her, and Tommy seems to be impressed with Natalie's academic achievement, among other things!
As we come to the end of the episode we see clips of Tommy's thoughts; his mom, the chancellor, Dr. Gay, the classes. Then Tommy has a bright idea.
We see roommate Matt in Tommy's English class with a camera, while Tommy takes it all in, in their souped up dorm room. "Now this is what I call college" says Tommy.
Episode 2
We start off in Dr. Gay's laboratory, which Tommy describes as "rad", prompting Dr. Gay to explain the meaning of "rad" in Physics, after which he explains another contraption that he's been working on.
Tommy is quite vocal in English class and actively participates in the group discussion.
Confident he'll do well in band, Tommy meets with the band directors where he's given the ground rules: no tattoos, no swearing, no drinking, no drugs, no smoking (I love the look on his face), and oh yea, did I mention band practice is at 6:45 am everyday?
Tommy wakes up bright and early for the audition and soon finds out even thought he's sold 40 million records while drumming for Motley Crue, band was not as easy as he thought.
Tommy tries to play the quad drums but hardly impresses the band directors as he hasn't played them since high school; regardless, they decide to give Tommy a shot.
Next class is Horticulture. Tommy chants his mantra "please don't call on me", and of course Tommy gets called on. Although he didn't get anything correct, Tommy seemed to be enjoying himself.
After class Tommy meets with Natalie. She encourages him to take notes and study hard as she believes he can do it. With "The eye of the tiger" playing in the background, Tommy hits the books. When asked to identify a leaf in Horticulture, he nailed it!
Tommy tries his first day on the field with the band and has a hard time keeping up with the steps never mind drumming.
Matt shows Tommy to the laundry room where they do some male bonding.
Chemistry class is still going at a hundred miles a minute for Tommy, and decides he needs more tutoring. Matt leaves the dorm so Tommy can hit the books. Unfortunately for Tommy Natalie can't make it and sends a no nonsense replacement. To help him unwind after his study session Tommy decides to throw a party.
It's morning once again and we find Tommy at band practice where Nate the percussion leader is obviously not impressed and stays on Tommy's back until the stress of it all makes Tommy throw in his drumsticks, and the drums.
Will Tommy make the band and join them on game day? Or will Tommy get cut?
I really don't like the way the episodes have an abrupt ending; that's all for this week!
