“Well…I’m…uh…I don’t know…”- I Want To Be a Hilton, Episode 6 By: Chloe The remaining seven are now cohabiting in the same suite; Jaret, Jackaay, Jules, JW, Niki, Vanessa and Brenden. Jackaay is a little weirded out as she is the last of the Madison team and not used to hanging around the Park team 24/7. Jules and JW have been having a thing, and can be seen snuggling and giggling on the balcony. The next morning, the gang is invited to the Palm Restaurant to lunch with Kathy. The minute they exit the hotel, they are surrounded by the paparazzi. Actually, the stalkarazzi was hired by Kathy to give the group a taste of being in the spotlight, a fact of life for the crème of society. After a few startled moments of posing uncertainly and smiling, they pile into the stretch limo and head for lunch. At the Palm, Kathy introduces them to Dave Allocca, a famous celebrity photographer and Jeffrey Slonim, an entertainment writer. The two men lectured everyone on staying in control of their public image. They showed pictures of everyone on the covers of fake tabloid magazines to drive the point home. Later, Jules asked Kathy how she and Paris handled the publicity surrounding Paris. There was dead silence for a few beats, but Kathy answered the question, albeit a little reluctantly. She said Paris tries to stay positive, but sometimes it can be very hurtful. From this experience, Kathy has decided not to be judgmental of anyone. Kathy surprised everyone by inviting them to a red carpet event that evening, but first they meet with PR coach, Susan Magrino. Susan taught them how to make a good first impression. She also warned them about revealing too much to the public by talking too much. Jules, whose mouth never runs out of gas, grew pink in the cheeks and everyone laughed. Back at the hotel, Jules and JW are relaxing and fighting. JW admits he likes girls and likes to flirt. Jules feels she needs to be honest about her feelings. She’s jealous of his flirting and berates him while he lay back with an arm over his face trying to ignore her. They put their irritation aside in order to ready themselves for the red carpet event. Night falls and the limo drops them off at the Manhattan club and to their surprise there isn’t any red carpet event. It is a press conference where they will have to answer questions, not just from the press, but from the team members who have not made the list in the last few shows. Wuht, woh. In walk Latricia, Yvette, Jabe, Alain (who never says a word), Rashad, Anthony and Anne. One by one, the remaining seven are called to the podium to answer questions - more like accusations - from the seven losers. Jackaay is the first to go. She handles herself well by saying hardly anything to Anthony’s charge that she spread rumors about him and Yvette sleeping together. Next under fire was Jules who couldn’t say enough about her relationship with JW, and didn’t realize her error until it was too late. Jaret answered questions about how a country bumpkin could possibly become a socialite. JW refused to answer the question of who should be sent home next. Vanessa handled her turn at the podium with grace and diplomatic responses. And then there was Niki, who couldn’t answer her question at all - literally. She stammered with “I…uh…”, and what followed was a silence so painful, that I want to crawl under my house. Then she tried again, “I’m …uh…” and never completed her thought. Now we know why she’s been so quiet! Brenden ended the conference by fending off attacks from just about everyone in the loser group and finally capitulated in agreement that he was an ambitious jerk. The “What Went Wrong” discussion the next day pointed fingers at Niki and her inability to speak in public. Niki defended herself by blaming everyone else, a natural, but futile attempt to remain in the game. In the end, three were let go; Brenden, Niki and Jules, who surprisingly had little to say. JW, Jackaay, Vanessa and Jaret were on “The List”. Kathy offered to let JW go downstairs to say goodbye to Jules. Jules was touched and in tears when she got into the limo. She just kept saying, “I don’t know why I’m crying.” Stay tuned! The season finale will finally answer the question: Who gets to be a Hilton? chloe@realityshack.com |
