The Best of the Bachelor

Reviewed by LauraBelle

The original Bachelor Alex Michel spends six weeks knocking an array of twenty-five possible wives down to only one. Although some "Best of ..." DVDs only include the most important scenes of a series, this includes everything you will remember from the original airing of the show and more, as there are at least thirty minutes of unseen footage included as well. This takes us from the first episode of Alex Michel meeting all twenty-five women down to the finale, with him choosing Amanda Marsh over Trista Rehn.

The relationship didn't last, however, as Amanda found out Alex was pursuing Trista even after getting down on bended knee for her. Eventually Trista went on to find true love with Ryan Sutter after meeting him on "The Bachelorette". They tied the knot on television.

Pros:  With this, you get to remember everything you loved about Season 1 of the popular series.

Cons:  Could be hard to watch knowing the people don't make it in the end.

Final Recommendation:  How can you pass up the chance to watch the original "Most Dramatic Rose Ceremony Ever?"

Celebrity Mole: Hawaii

Reviewed by LauraBelle

Die-hard fans of The Mole will argue that the earlier seasons, which featured real people rather than B-list celebs, were far superior to the Celebrity version. They'd be right, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy Celebrity Mole Hawaii.

The Game is built around seven celebrities trying to find out who is lying and who is not. The celebs - Stephen Baldwin, Corbin Bernsen, Michael Boatman, Kim Coles, Frederique, Kathy Griffin and Erik von Detten - spend six weeks in exotic Hawaii determining who among them is setting them up, until the finale when the mole is revealed. Hosted by Ahmad Rashad, the celebrities enter into challenges designed to win money for the winning pot at the end, but the mole is in charge of sabotaging every challenge put to them. Each week the celebrity that answers the most questions wrong about who the mole could be is 'executed'.

Baldwin and Bernsen make an unlikely but extrememly funny pair, while model Frederique keeps everyone on their toes. This DVD set features extended and unseen scenes, post-execution reactions and interviews, more confessionals, and extra "funny moments".

Pros:  This is great fun to watch, and if you already know what's going to happen it's still enjoyable to search for clues and check out the extra footage.

Cons:  A whole DVD of Stephen Baldwin being a little too full of himself.

Final Recommendation:  It's a comedy, a mystery, and a game show all in one. The celebs are actually people you've heard of, and watching them try to figure each other out is quite amusing.

Trading Spaces - They Hated It

Reviewed by Deanna

I waited and waited for this show to premiere last year. I wanted to see Hildi’s floral bathroom or the cardboard bedroom that she did. Perhaps, maybe Kia’s swinging bed or some of Laurie’s faux pas. And Doug! Well, don’t get me started on him. The guy’s mantra is "I’m the designer. They have to live with my changes." Hmmm. I wonder if he gets a lot of work that way.

Now, I was sort of disappointed in the show and even a little bit more disappointed in this DVD. I was expecting more than just 55 minutes of 2 shows I’d already seen and only 5 extra minutes of ‘reaction-time’, which was mediocre at best. If Hildi came near my house, I’d have to sue the show and possibly commit murder.

There are a few additions to the DVD. Yeah, like 6 negative reactions ranging from mild distaste to uncontrollable sobbing. If Hildi painted any of my rooms Pepto-Bismol pink with straw affixed to the cream base, I’d well - (see above).

Pros:  It’s Trading Spaces and a little something extra.

Cons:  Not as much extra as I was hoping for.

Final Recommendation:  This DVD’s good for die-hard fans that follow the show religiously and spend their weekends at Lowe’s or Home Depot. For the rest of us, we can catch the repeats on TLC.

The Anna Nicole Show - The First Season

Reviewed by Juwanna Make-Somethinofit

This show was wild (even with censors). Now you can own the uncensored version on DVD. I guess the all-black sex room that Anna made for her neighbors in the "Trading Spaces" spoof episode, complete with dildos and swing, got too raunchy for E! The lady is crazy. Watch her dog Sugarpie hump a pillow and any stuffed animal that crosses its path. See Anna date. Listen to Anna fight with her assistant, Kimmy, and her lawyer, Howard K. Stern.

Oh yes, we can’t forget the Bobby Trendy incidents. You have to see this show to believe it. And, if you haven’t seen it, you should still get this item. It’s sure to be a conversation piece.

Pros:  Funnier than many sitcoms on TV these days.

Cons:  It’s got that train-wreck quality sometimes. You want to look away, but you just can’t. It’ll suck you in.

Final Recommendation:  If you can take the heat that this Southern Belle dishes up, you need to have this item in your DVD collection.

MTV Punk'd - The Complete Second Season

Reviewed by Panndyra

I’m 31, a PTA mom and yes, I watch Punk’d. I know that the premise of the show is not particularly fresh. I mean hidden cameras catching celebrities doing stupid things. Nah! No one’s ever done that before. Regardless, I like the show. I do think Season One was better, but hey, I tend to stick to the historical.

In this DVD set, you get the full second season. Here are some highlights:

* the look on Beyonce’s face when she knocks over the Xmas tree and the poor children say, "Now, you’ve gone and ruined Christmas!"
* Hilary Duff and Lindsey Lohan getting Punk’d. Yes, there is a goddess after all!
* Tommy Lee losing his cool when he takes the fall for a Nick Carter faux pas. (And no, it doesn’t involve Paris Hilton!)
* Keeping Halle Berry off the red carpet at the premiere of "Gothika". At least she can take a joke.

There’s also commentary from Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg. (He is Mr. Punky Brewster!) In one reel, Ashton talks about the 30 hottest women in Hollywood (and yes, Demi is on his list!)

If all else fails, you can catch the deleted scenes and check out the special "punk your friends" options.

Pros:  Funny pranks at the expense of some of today’s most over-exposed stars.

Cons:  The Justin Timberlake Punk happened in Season One.

Final Recommendation:  Get it, watch it and study the sheer evil genius of Ashton Kutcher. It’s scary.
