Big Brother 11, Aug. 30 – Playing the Numbers

We better not have to wait again this Thursday to find out who wins the HoH. Two weeks in a row is enough. So who do you think won? Did Michele pull it off to save herself? Did Jordan pull out an HoH on her own? Did Natalie finally do something, or did Kevin finally stop coming in second and win? As the show picks up tonight, we see the start of the HoH competition again. Kevin slips first, as he recounts later “falling on [...]

What's Hot On TV Tonight – Country's Night to Rock

If you like country music, this is your night. It seems that anybody who is anybody in country music is performing at the CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock.  Let me just throw a few names out there. Kenny Chesney. Kid Rock. Martina McBride. Sugarland. Brad Paisley. Taylor Swift. I’m not really even in to country music, and it’s enough to make me tune in. 1. Regis and Kelly. Nominations for the annual “Relly Awards” are announced with categories such as “Live Gone Wild [...]

What's Hot On TV Tonight – Another Big Brother Cliffhanger

They did it to us again For the second week in a row, Big Brother left us hanging over who the new HoH is going to be. No matter who it is, it’s going to be an interesting week. With Russell gone we only have strong comp players in Jeff, Michele, and Kevin. Who wins the HoH, though, won’t be nearly as important as who wins the power of veto. 1. NFL: Exhibition: Bills at Steelers. Preseason game between Buffalo and Pittsburgh. 12:00 PM CT [...]

Big Brother 11, Aug. 29 Spoiler – HoH Winner, Nominations, and PoV Winner

Don’t you sometimes wonder if CBS is rooting for certain people to win? Anyone that reads my recaps and commentaries regularly knows that I’m not a big conspiracy theory person, but what was with this veto comp? We’ve only had one endurance comp so far, other than the first one with the toilet seats. And after the can challenge last week, they do another similar one with the hot chocolate. Are they running out of ideas? Kevin’s been coming in second in almost everything, and [...]

Big Brother 11 – A Strategic Overview of Week Seven

So they finally evicted Russell. After weeks of terrorizing the house, Russell has fought his last fight. Jeff, trusting Kevin and Natalie maybe a little more than he should have, used the power of veto to take Kevin off the block and backdoor Russell, as he was voted out in a 3-0 vote on Thursday, being the first person to be unanimously voted off. And now that we’re down to the final five, all bets are off. Nobody should trust anybody, because this is the [...]

Project Runway, Aug. 27 – Mama Needs New Clothes

Welcome back to the Season 6 of Project Runway. Last week, we met the sixteen designers who’d descended on L.A. Their challenge was to make a look fit for a red carpet event. Johnny, a recovering drug addict, had a meltdown, but still managed to turn out a nice red dress. Christopher won the challenge, while Ari was sent home for making something fit for a Star Trek convention. After the recap, we’re told that the winner gets a fashion spread in Elle and a [...]

What's Hot On TV Tonight – R.I.P. Teddy Kennedy

MSNBC is having an all day nine-hour affair from funeral to burial, if you really want to absorb every moment of the process. If you want just a little of the mass, tune in to CBS in the morning, and if you’re into watching burials, tune in to CNN this afternoon. Andthen wake yourself up by watching the 2th Anniversary of Wrestlemania. It’s the [...]

Top Chef: Las Vegas, Episode 2 – He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother

While I enjoyed this episode, I cannot see this being a memorable Top Chef installment. Why? Because this was a classic Cannon Fodder Episode. Every reality show has one of those, and the trick is to make it interesting to watch in the moment. Cannon Fodder Episodes are ones where it is so clearly obvious that a person who has absolutely no chance of winning the competition is also clearly the one going home. Eve was so incredibly out of her league in this competition [...]

What's Hot On TV Tonight – Teen Heroism

It seems the best we have on network TV (read all we have in terms of new programming) are newsmagazine shows. Both Dateline NBC and 20/20 seem to have good ones. 20/20 features a story on teen heroism, a boy that sacrificed his own life jumping 65 feet from a cliff into chopping water to save a girl, and Dateline features updates on a plot that included an investment scam and a faked death, along with the disappearance of a groom on his honeymoon cruise. [...]

What's Hot On TV Tonight – Lions, Big Brother, and Tyson … Oh My!

I think you’d have to be made of stone not to find that video of Dave Salmoni and the baby lion below incredible cute. It’s like a big kitten! Unfortunately, it’s thoughts like that that make people want them for unusual pets. Watch more tonight on Into the Pride. If you DVR the two, you can watch Big Brother after that and find out if the house has the guts to take out the biggest competitor, Russell, and later Mike Tyson guests on the Tonight [...]
