What’s Hot on TV Tonight – Bowl Games and NBA Basketball

It’s yet another night this week with no new programming on network TV, with the night being carried by sports, reruns, and cable. If you don’t like sports, you might want to catch up on that laundry to find something to wear out New Year’s Eve. Catch up with other favorite shows you may have missed at TV-Links.

1. The Heartbreak Kid. Ben Stiller is pretty funny in this movie that is very “Something About Mary-sh,” but the really surprisingly funny one is Jerry Stiller and how vulgar he can be to outwit his son. 9:30 AM CT Comedy Central

2. Catch and Release. What do you do when your fiance dies just before your wedding, and before you get to canonize him you find he was leading a whole separate life away from you? 10:30 AM CT Oxygen

3. Goodfellas. It’s my most favorite mob movie ever, and the soundtrack is among the best as well. Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, and Robert DeNiro are fantastic actors on their own, and together they just make you sit back and say wow. It’s like they took the life of a typical “serial” mobster, cut it open, examined it, and showed it for what it was. Brilliant. 12:54 PM CT Spike

4. Sixteen Candles. Of all the 80s movies out there, this one is pretty close to my favorite, evidenced by the amount of quotes that have slipped into my pop culture references, some of it no longer politically correct. 1:30 PM CT 5StarMax

5. College Football. Champs Sports Bowl from Orlando, FL. Florida State vs. Notre Dame. 4:30 PM CT ESPN

6. College Basketball. Florida at Rutgers. 6:00 PM CT ESPN2

7. NBA Basketball. Dallas Mavericks at Oklahoma City Thunder. 7:00 PM CT TNT

8. Travel Channel Uncut: More Bloopers and Wrong Turns. Another night of bloopers. 7:00 PM CT Travel Channel

9. World’s Dumbest … 8:00 PM CT truTV

10. The First 48. It takes a lot longer than the first forty-eight hours to solve this murder. Homicide detectives are still working on it after six years. 8:00 PM CT A&E

11. NY Ink. Featuring Wooster Social Club, a NYC tattoo shop. Ami tries to balance work and family. 8:00 PM CT TLC

12. Braxton Family Values. As Toni recovers, she slips into diva mode at Towanda and Trina’s expense. Towanda sets Evelyn up on a disastrous blind date with a younger man. Meanwhile, Tamar convinces Traci to do an internship at a glam Beverly Hills salon, but the owner wants Traci to work on her glam-ing herself up first. 8:00 PM CT WE

13. Building of the HGTV Dream Home. Ever wonder what goes into building the beautiful HGTV Dream Home?
