What's Hot On TV Tonight – Monk's Final Season!

It’s the final season of Monk, kicking off tonight. After interviewing Tony Shalhoub, I’m left wondering if he’s going to be typecast in this anal/OCD character, as he revealed they’re more similar than they’re different. We also have the season premiere of psych. Those two, James Roday and Dulé Hill aren’t ready to hang it up quite yet, which is good for us, as they’re always ready with a few laughs.

1. The View. Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, and director Nora Ephron from the movie Julie & Julia guest, along with Lauren Braun Costello. 10:00 AM CT ABC

2. Fracture. Anthony Hopkins is superb as usual in this as a guy who murders his adulterous wife in cold blood, then dares her lover, the lead detective on the scene, to prove he did it. 10:40 AM HBO Zone East

3. The Heartbreak Kid. Ben Stiller is pretty funny in this movie that is very “Something About Mary-sh,” but the really surprisingly funny one is Jerry Stiller and how vulgar he can be to outwit his son. 12:15 PM CT 5Star Max

4. Surviving Suburbia. In the season finale, Steve encourages Anne to break from her manipulative parents after they abuse their cell phone privileges, and Henry feels Rhonda is making teen pregnancy glamorous to Courtney. 7:00 PM CT ABC

5. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?. The contestants include a surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack, and a women who woke up from a coma after her family had taken her off life support. 7:00 PM CT Fox

6. Sexiest. The 25 hottest cover girls are the focus. 7:00 PM CT E!

7. The Goode Family. Gerald adopts a highway, wanting to show his kids that it is possible to make a difference, but it doesn’t go as it should when they find out the area is being used as a drug drop-off zone for neo-Nazis. 7:30 PM CT ABC

8. Dateline NBC. After a string of violent crimes targeting those at a shopping mall in a wealthy neighborhood, investigators search for suspects, but have little to go on. 8:00 PM CT NBC

9. Mental. Jack is finally reunited with his schizophrenic sister and makes her treatment his top priority. Veronica asks Jack to help with an Iraq War veteran with amnesia and PTSD.  8:00 PM CT Fox

10. Monk. It’s the season premiere in what will be the final season for the show. Tonight, Monk works as a bodyguard for one of his favorite childhood stars, after she gets death threats after writing her autobiography. He’s crushed to find she isn’t like who she played on TV, and neither are her costars. Elizabeth Perkins guest stars. 8:00 PM CT USA

11. Eureka. An electronics and scrap metal structure is constructed in a field by the teenagers of Eureka, who seem to have been manipulated while they were sleeping. 8:00 PM CT Syfy

12. Larry King Live. Jermaine Jackson makes an appearance to of course talk about the biggest entertainment news of the summer, and all of the surprising news we’ve heard since his brother’s death. 8:00 PM CT CNN

13. Whale Wars. Paul has to do a risky military maneuver that involves circling the Steve Irwin at high speeds in order to have a safe return for the small boats that are low on fuel. 8:00 PM CT Animal Planet

14. Mr. Friday. In the series premiere, a former model who squadered his savings is forced by his wealthy mother to switch places with hardworking everyday people to earn his trust fund. Tonight, he fills in for a reptile zoo keeper, while the zoo keeper goes on a boating adventure and participates in a motocross race. 8:00 PM CT FLN

15. The Goode Family. In the season finale, Gerald thinks Trish and Mo want him to be a sperm donor for them, Ubuntu begins growing facial hair, and Charlie teaches his grandson how to to be a man. 8:30 PM CT ABC

16. 20/20. Medical Mysteries are in store for us tonight, including a man whose heart is outside his body, autism, a sleep-related eating disorder, a neurological condition that leads to paralysis, and sexual disorder in women that causes them pain during sex.  9:00 PM CT ABC

17. psych. In the season premiere, Shawn and Gus meet an art thief while skiing in Vancouver and find out he’s not what he seems. Cary Elwes guest stars. 9:00 PM CT USA

18. Chefs vs. City. In the series premiere, two chefs, Chris Cosentino and Aarón Sánchez, travel to different cities each week to face off against local foodies. Tonight, they travel to New York City. 8:30 PM CT ABC

14. Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Standup. Comedy with Gary Owen, TuRae Gordan, and Richard Vos is included. 10:00 PM CT Starz

15. Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien. The guests tonight are Eric Bana, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Flo Rida. 10:35 PM CT NBC
