What's Hot On TV Tonight – Shark Week Begins!

It’s that time of year again, Discover Channel’s Shark Week. At least I have no trips to the beach planned. There’s plenty of other things looking good tonight if you’re not up for the scare of all that, such as the Next Food Network Star finale, a Ty Pennington special, and a couple of pilots and premieres. It’s a good night for sitting in front of the box!

1. Can’t Buy Me Love. Back when Dr. McDreamy was considered a nerd. I think all kids should see this to see how they can end up being seen as Dreamy rather than a nerd someday as adults, and for the message of the movie that popularity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. 1:00 PM CT Oxygen

2. NASCAR Racing: Sprint Cup In Long Pond, PA. It’s the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway. 1:00 PM CT ESPN

3. Empire Records. The owner and employees of a record store try to stop the business from being taken over. Anthony LaPaglia and Liv Tyler star, and it’s yet another movie that has me not liking Tyler’s acting. 4:00 PM CT Fuse

4. 60 Minutes. Wclean Jean is one talking about his career, as well as what he’s doing to his his native Haiti. Airport security checkpoints and whether or not they’re making passengers safe is on the docket tonight as well, along with a report on drunk-driving fatalities and the prosecutors who want stiff penalties imposed. 6:00 PM CT CBS

5. Dateline NBC. The Security Enforcement Division of the California Lottery is followed as they test the overall compliance of the state’s lottery retailers. 6:00 PM CT NBC

6. 10 Deadliest Sharks. Part one of two is pretty self-explanatory. All I know is I don’t want to be anywhere near them. Part two directly follows at 7:00. 6:00 PM CT Discovery

7. Big Brother 11. We’ll get to see the finale of the endurance comp to see who won, as well as who’s on the Haves and Have Nots tonight. With the breakup of the cliques, it could get interesting.

8. Merlin. A Black Knight slaughters challengers at the coming-of-age ceremony for Arthur, while there seems to be a possible connection between the Black Knight and Uther 7:00 PM CT NBC

9. Ty’s Great British Adventure. A historic town park in the village of Portreath in Cornwall, England gets a makeover thanks to Ty Pennington. 7:00 PM CT ABC

10. Legally Blondes.
Elle Woods’ twin cousins move to L.A. from Britain to attend hig school and find they’ll need to prove that blondes can be smart as well as have more fun. 7:00 PM CT ABC Family

11. The Storm.
Part two of two as a tycoon who is fixated on technology that alters weather has an experiment going devastating awry, and only a scientist and reporter are willing to demand he shut it down for the good of the planet. Treat Williams, James Van Der Beek, and John Larroquette star. 8:00 PM CT NBC

12. Defying Gravity. This pilot is for a series that focuses on an astronaut crew’s current mission to Venus and what connects them to each other during their training process beforehand. Tonight the astornauts prepare for the six year journey. 8:00 PM CT ABC

13. Blood In the Water.
The 1916 shark attacks that inspired the movie Jaws are examined. 8:00 PM CT HBO East

14. Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
After spending the night with a mystery woman, a popular male model is found dead. 8:00 PM CT USA

15. Gene Simmons Family Jewels. In the first half hour, Gene takes care of things at home while Shannon is acting in a movie. In the second half hour, Nick entertains out-of-town guests and Gene continues to take care of things at home when Shannon recovers from an accident. 12:00 PM CT Fox

16. Untamed & Uncut. A dozen horses fall into a freezing lake, a bull attacks a man during a Spanish festival, and a python bites a teenager 8:00 PM CT Animal Planet

17. Ice Road Truckers. The drivers feel pressure to deliver their loads before the season ends. Hugh nealry spins out, while Lisa does, forcing her to back down a hill, and Alex delivers a load, then takes a back haul assignment, but the load isn’t strapped securely. 8:00 PM CT History

18. Bridezillas. An angry bride kicks the best man out, but her fiance refuses to go along with it. Another bride threatens to poison her fiance, then loses her cool when he gets a message from an ex. 8:00 PM CT WE

19. The Next Food Network Star. It’s the season finale that has Melissa and Jeffrey filming the pilots for their dream shows with help from Alton Brown. They also reunite with the eliminated contestants, and the winner is then announced before a live audience. 8:00 PM CT Food Network


20. Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew Top 10 Performances of All Time. Randy counts down the best performances from the first three seasons. 8:00 PM CT MTV

21. Megan Wants a Millionaire. In this series premiere, millionaires try to win the heart of reality TV veteran Megan Hauserman. 8:00 PM CT HBO East

22. True Blood. Sookie tries to contact Bill when her mission with Hugo becomes troubled, Jason fears for his safety because of the Fellowship of the Sun’s doctrine, and Sam’s relationship with Maryann develops a new threat. 8:00 PM CT HBO East

23. In Plain Sight. A Wall STreet investor enters Witness Protection after turning on his boss, and gives up his fortune, then find sout he needs to pay a ransom from his past. 9:00 PM CT USA

24. Jesse James Is a Dead Man. Jesse tries to break a speed record in a WWI era fighter plane. 9:00 PM CT Spike

25. Hung. A client wants to revist a role-playing fantasy after not being satisfied, Ray tries to capitalize on Jessica being frugal, promisng a car for Damon and Darby, and Tanya goes on a date with Floyd, reluctantly. 9:00 PM CT HBO East

26. Entourage. Ari gets Lloyd to keep an eye on Andrew’s extracurricular activities, Vince kills time until shooting on his next film starts, Turtle shops for clothes with Jamie-Lynn, and Drama gets ready for his character’s romance on “Five Towns”. 9:30 PM CT HBO East
