What's Hot On TV Tonight – Lakers at Magic, Game 5

It’s game five of the NBA Finals with the Lakers leading it three games to one. If they win tonight, it’s another notch in Phil Jackson’s belt, but Orlando could be making a run for it. And for the non-basketball folks, Million Dollar Password, which is always a good time, but it just isn’t the same without Alan Ludden and the old format.

1. Independence Day. Will Smith seemed to really come into his own with this movie. He plays a fighter pilot who has the responsibility of saving the world heaped on him. 11:00 AM CT A&E

2. Ordinary People. This movie had a way of cutting me to the core emotionally when I’d watch it on HBO, and that was when I was a teenager. I should revisit it as a parent and see what the impact is. Timothy Hutton, Mary Tyler Moore, and Donald Sutherland star in this movie about a family tragedy. 11:45 AM CT HBO Signature East

3. NASCAR Racing: Sprint Cup In Brooklyn, MI. It’s the LifeLock 400, won last year by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., his only one in the last 112 Spring Cup races. 112? That can’t be right, can it? 1:00 PM CT TNT

4. 60 Minutes. Reports on the SEC ignoring reports that Bernie Madoff’s investment fund was a fraud, foreign-born wives being asked to leave the country after their American-born husbands pass away, and Alice Water, who preaches the “slow food” approach to healthy eating. 6:00 PM CT CBS

5. Dateline NBC. The case of the German-born Clark Rockefeller, accused of kidnapping his daughter during a supervised visit. 6:00 PM CT NBC

6. Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night. A special half hour of Kimmel before the NBA Finals Game 5, with guest 50 Cent. 7:00 PM CT CBS

7. Million Dollar Password. Celebrity comes in the way of Jeff Garlin and Chelsea Handler, who seem like they’d make it a very fun, interesting hour. 7:00 PM CT CBS

8. 10.5 Apocalypse. A sequel which has an earthquake on the West Coast severely altering the Earth’s core, starring Kim Delaney and David Cubitt. 7:00 PM CT NBC

9. NBA Finals: Game 5: Lakers at Magic. It’s Game 5 of the championship series. The Lakers could wrap this one up tonight. 7:00 PM CT ABC

12. Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The Olympic Site Selection Committee get investigated by Wheeler and Nichols. 8:00 PM CT USA

13. Gene Simmons Family Jewels. In the first half hour, Nick and dad take a business trip to Me and perform on the site where supposedly Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil, and in the second half hour Gene visits his mother in Long Island, and finds that she wants him to host a fire department fundraiser. 8:00 PM CT A&E

14. Ice Road Truckers. The truckers are behind in getting supplies to the oil fields, and a storm is coming. Hugh and Alex are joined by safety instructors, Jack has to decide where to help others and possibly lose his load, and Lisa asks for a tough assignment. 8:00 PM CT History

15. Bridezillas. A bride may have to change the venue for her wedding because of a natural disaster, and a woman has to deal with the fallout of her badly planned nuptials and has to ask her bridesmaids to meet a weight requirement. 8:00 PM CT WE

16. The Next Food Network Star. The aspiring chefs create man-frirendly dishes to win the chance to have their recipe published in Esquire magazine. Later they prepare dishes inspired by holidays. 8:00 PM CT Food Network

15. True Blood. This season premiere includes the discovery of a body at Merlotte’s, which then has the citizens of Bon Temps worried that there’s another murderer at large. Sookie is ticked off by the presence of Bill’s teen protege and his part in the Stackhouse family death, and Jason prays to find a way to pay for a retreat with an antivampire group. 8:00 PM CT HBO

17. In Plain Sight. Mary and Marshall think a new witness may be involved in a string of murders that includes the stabbing of Mary’s friend. They work to solve this before another victim surfaces. 9:00 PM CT USA

18. Jesse James Is a Dead Man. Jesse dances around a case of hypothermia in a meat locker before he delivers medicine to a remote Arctic village on a motorcycle. 9:00 PM CT Spike

19. Expedition Africa. It’s part three with the need for fresh water becoming critical, and the explorers run across wildlife and face fears that lions may be hiding in the 10 foot high grass. Two of the explorers are approaching a confrontation. 9:00 PM CT History
