What's Hot On TV Tonight – MTV Movie Awards

MTV_MOVIE_AWARDS_Logo_low-res.jpg.jpeg A few months past the other award shows, the MTV Movie Awards are always fun to watch, as they include the movies we actually do watch. Too many times I look at the movies nominated for best film and know that not even did I not see it, but it didn’t even have a wide release. The MTV Movie Awards are much different and award fun things like Best Kiss and Best WTF Moment. We’ll also get the first glimpses of the new Harry Potter film as well as the new Transformers film.

1. Tony Awards Preview Concert. Cast performances from the nominated shows, including Billy Elliot, Next to Normal, Rock of Ages, Shrek the Musical, Guys and Dolls, Hair, Pal Joey, and West Side Story. Interviews with Tony nominees are also included 11:00 AM CT CBS

2. The World According to Garp. What a stunning cast with Robin Williams, Glenn Close, Mary Beth Hurt, John Lithgow, and Swoosie Kurtz. It’s a good story, but would be worth the watch just for the cast.12:25 PM CT Indie
2. NASCAR Racing: Sprint Cup In Dover, Del. It’s The Autism Speaks 400, won last year by Kyle Busch. 12:30 PM CT Fox

4. IndyCar Racing: IndyCar Series In West Allis, Wis. It’s the IndyCar 225 at the Milwaukee Mile which brought Ryan Briscoe his first IndyCAr victory last year. 2:30 PM CT ABC

5. Escape From Alcatraz. Clint Eastwood stars in this true story of a prison escape. 1:15 PM CT ABC

6. 60 Minutes. Reports on the FDUC as it takes control of a failed bank. Also included is an interview with Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari and a profile of Michael Phelps. 6:00 PM CT CBS

7. Stanley Cup Finals: Game 2: Penguins at Red Wings. Game 2 of the championship series between Pittsburgh and Detroit. 6:00 PM CT NBC

8. Million Dollar Password. Celebrities Jamie Kennedy and Norm Macdonald pitch in to help. 7:00 PM CT CBS

9. Law & Order: Criminal Intent. A con man’s partner who preyed on a lonely single mom winds up dead. 8:00 PM CT USA

10. Ice Road Truckers. This new season is filmed in Alaska and features 2 returning drivers (Hugh & Alex) as well as 6 new drivers. In Prudhoe Bay, a network of ice roads in the tundra crisscross river systems & open ocean to connect America’s booming North Slope oil fields to dry land. 8:00 PM CT History

11. 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Andy Samberg hosts these movie awards that seem to honor what people really are watching. Twilight leads the nominations, followed by Slumdog Millionaire 8:00 PM CT MTV

12. In Plain Sight. Stan’s first witness winds up dead with Stan’s badge found with the remains, implicating him in the murder. Mary and Marshall investigate and find out about a 20-year-old love triangle. 9:00 PM CT USA

13. Jesse James Is a Dead Man. This season premiere has Jesse james racing in a dragster, taking flight in an F-15, and setting himself on fire to get ready for a Nitro Bike ride. 9:00 PM CT Spike

14. Expedition Africa. This is a really interesting documentary/reality show which follows a team of explorers tracing the steps of H.M. Stanley in Africa as he searched for Dr. Livingtstone. Produced by Mark Burnett, it has a lot of the same elements. Read more in my review at Film Monthly. 9:00 PM CT History

15. HGTV’s $250,000 Challenge. Family compete in weekly home design challenges in this season premiere. 9:00 PM CT HGTV
