What's Hot On TV Tonight – More Economy Discussion

I have no money, I know I have no money, and I know I don’t have any bright prospects of having any money, so this constant discussion on newsmagazine shows explaining why I don’t have any money is really bringing me down. It’s almost like they say, “Gee, no news for this week’s show. Don’t worry about it; we’ll just talk about the economy again.” 20/20 puts us through yet another hour of it tonight. I think I’ll stick with Dateline NBC and the financial advisor that faked his own death. Somehow it’s not as depressing.

1. Oprah Winfrey. Kelly Clarkson performs, and Oprah’s Friday regulars discuss “hot topics.” Syndicated, check local listings.

2. An Officer and a Gentleman. It’s funny, but we think about this as a really romantic movie, because of the song and the last scene, but some of that stuff in the middle was anything but. 10:30 AM CT AMC

3. NCAA BAsketball Tournament: First Round Games. Featured are Austin/Syracuse, Arizona St./Temple, Oklahoma/St./Tennessee, East Tennessee St./Pittsburgh, Kansas/North Dakota St., Dayton/West Virginia, Marquette/Utah St., Cornell/Missouri. 11:10 AM CT CBS

4. Jurassic Park. Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton came together for this movie that capitalized on the dinosaur craze at the time. Or maybe it’s that the craze was created from the movie. It stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. 4:45 PM CT OutMax

5. NCAA BAsketball Tournament: First Round Games. Featured are Arizona/Utah, Cleveland St./Wake Forest, Louisville/Morehead St., Ohio St./Siena, Boston College/USC, Michigan St./Robert Morris, Portland St./Xavier, Florida St./Wisconsin. 6:00 PM CT CBS

6. The Parent Trap. It should be a fun Disney movie, but right now it seems like a eulogy. This remake from 1998 stars Lindsay Lohan, Natasha Richardson, and Dennis Quaid. 6:20 PM CT Encore West

7. Howie Do It. A pop group holds auditions with a novice, a woman is pushed into hosting a talk show, Howie pretends to be a difficult concierge at a hotel in Las Vegas, and parents learn some shocking info about their son. 7:00 PM CT NBC

8. Wife Swap. It’s the ultra-organized real estate agent switching with the jokester mom. Structure against freewheeling. 7:00 PM CT ABC

9. Everybody Hates Chris. While test-driving a car, Chris runs into Greg, causing him to break his leg. Rochelle has to then cancel her beach vacation plans to care for him, as Jules then has to take the kids to the beach alone, while it rains every day there. 7:00 PM CT CW

10. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. In this conclusion, Jesse’s future sub mission impacts John, Sarah, and Derek in the present, Sarah makes amends with Cameron, and John comes to a big decision. 7:00 PM CT Fox

11. The Game. Tasha helps Rick not lose his job, Malis gets obsessed finding out everything he can about his dad and why they were separated for so long, and Melanie wonders why Derwin is back with Janay. 7:30 PM CT CW

12. Friday Night Lights. Joe asks J.D. to concentrate more on football and postpone dating, Lyla is affected by Buddy’s financial problems, Eric faces a huge discovery, and Tyra’s selfish behavior becomes tiring to Landry. 8:00 PM CT NBC

13. Supernanny. Jo helps out a family with three children, including 6 year old twins and a baby girl. One of the 6 year old still sucks his thumb, and both twins torment their little sister. 8:00 PM CT ABC

14. Dollhouse. Echo becomes a model wife for an internet mogul, then comes face-to-face with Ballard, and Sierra’s attacker is identified, Mellie faces danger. 8:01 PM CT Fox

15. Dateline NBC. Featured is a financial adviser who allegedly ditched the aircraft he was flying, faking his own death, as he faced financial fraud. 9:00 PM CT NBC

16. 20/20. The economic downturn is explored, showing high earners facing downsizing, newly homeless families, and companies that promote foreclosure-rescue and loan-modification for homeowners in trouble, buyers that take advantage of the foreclosed homes, and teens talking about how the economy is affecting them. 9:00 PM CT ABC

The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Guests tonight include Seth Rogen, Guy Fieri, and Chris Cornell. Hopefully Rogen will discuss the upcoming Green Hornet project as well as the reports out this morning that Lindsay Lohan wants to work with him, but he won’t return her calls. 10:35 PM CT NBC

Jimmy Kimmel Live. Good show tonight with Portia de Rossi, Melissa Rycroft of The Bachelor and now DWTS, and Motley Crue performs. I just got done reading Nikki Sixx’s Heroin Diaries autobiography which was thoroughly fascinating. 12:05 AM ABC
