We’ve come to the end of the Blind Auditions on this season of The Voice, but when thinking of who I’m looking forward to watching during the the Battle Round, I’m struggling to come up with artists. Not that they aren’t talented, they just didn’t stand out.
Who did stand out were the new coaches: Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. Anyone who has prejudged Miley might want to check out the show. She’s completely different on here. No twerking, tongue-wagging, etc. Just a much more grownup version and knowledgeable to boot. All in all, just a very warm person.
Here’s a look at the teams going into the Battles.
Adam Levine has Riley Elmore, the teen who sang “The Way You Look Tonight.” I remember him as he’s from a town literally minutes away from me. Also Andrew DeMuro, who sang “Vienna,” Billy Gilman who had a teenage country career, Natasha Bure, the daughter of Candace Cameron Bure, Brendan Fletcher, Bindi Liebowitz, Elia Esparza, Simone Gundy, Johnny Rez, JSoul, Ponciano Seoane, and Nolan Neal. He was the one who had tried out last season as well.
On Miley’s team are Darby Walker, who sang “Jolene” with her, Courtnie Ramirez, Ali Caldwell, Sa’Rayah, Sophia Urista, Lane Mack, Karlee Metzger, Aaron Gibson, Khaliya Kimberlie, Maye Thomas, Charity Bowden, and Josette Diaz.
Filling out Alicia’s team are Wé McDonald, whose singing voice is much lower than her talking voice, Lauren Diaz who sang Alicia’s “If I Ain’t Got You” and is a reality TV vet, Halle Tomlinson who sang “New York State of Mind,” Whitney and Shannon, the only duo this season, Jason Warrior, Dave Moisan, Christian Cuevas, Josh Halverson, Gabriel Violett, Michael Sanchez, Belle Jewel, and Kylie Rothfield.
Blake Shelton’s team includes Sundance Head who was eliminated in the semi-final round of season six of American Idol, Austin Allsup who sang “Wild Horses,” Dana Harper, Gabe Broussard, Ethan Tucker, Dan Shafer, Josh Gallagher, Christian Ferman, Preston James, Courtney Harrell, Tarra Layne, and Blaine Long.
The names above with descriptions are the only singers who I remember anything about. I’ve downloaded a few of the singles so far from the auditions, but not many. Some I downloaded just because I liked the original song, not necessarily because the audition stood out to me.
I’m looking for some of them to impress me in the Battle Round. They have some impressive advisers to help assist the coaches in preparing the contestants for the Battles. Helping Adam will be Sammy Hagar. Charlie Puth will be in with Alicia. Miley brought in Joan Jett, and Blake brought in Bette Midler. Watching them could be even more exciting than listening to the contestants.
Tuesday night’s show is just a re-hash of the performers on each team. The Battle Round stars next week. I’m looking for them all to step up their game.
